Greater Peace Community Development Corporation is proud to announce the launch of R.I.S.E., a new year-long program designed specifically for area middle school students in grades 6-8.
R.I.S.E. stands for Respect, Integrity, Service, and Empowerment – the core values that will guide every aspect of this exciting new initiative.
About the Program
This free, year-long program is designed to help students build leadership and soft skills through engaging, interactive field trips, projects, and activities.
R.I.S.E. is intentionally built to:
-
Build friendships and a sense of community among participants
-
Develop a sense of service and civility
-
Build confidence and knowledge that will serve students well beyond the classroom
Born From a Need in Our Community
R.I.S.E. was developed by Greater Peace CDC Executive Director Clarinda J. Turner, a certified teacher, after hearing directly from parents who expressed a need for more programs geared toward middle school-aged students.
Recognizing a gap in resources available to this age group, Turner designed R.I.S.E. to meet students right where they are, during a pivotal stage of adolescence when guidance, mentorship, and community support matter most.
Our Goal
It is Greater Peace CDC’s goal to bridge that gap by providing students with a safe environment where they are exposed to culture, professionalism, and community service.
Through R.I.S.E., middle schoolers will have the opportunity to grow into confident, respectful, and empowered young leaders equipped to make a positive impact in their schools and community.
Greater Peace CDC invites area families with students in grades 6-8 to learn more about R.I.S.E. and how their child can become part of this transformative new program.
