The Greater Peace Baptist church is a religious institution that provides spiritual guidance and faith-based services. The nonprofit and the church operate as partners, sharing leadership, campus space, and a coordinated approach while serving distinct roles within Lee County and its surrounding areas.
Q: What does the Greater Peace Community Development Corporation do?
They focus on revitalizing economically distressed communities in Alabama by offering affordable housing, quality childcare, youth education, food assistance, workforce development training, and other programs designed to help families live quality and sustainable lives.

Yes, we currently provide extended-day services for students enrolled in our OSR Pre-K Program, with hours of operation from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The cost is $100 per child. This program operates on the Opelika City Schools calendar, meaning we do not offer services when Opelika City Schools is closed.
Q: Do you offer FREE tutoring services?
Yes, this service is offered during the fall and spring semesters. Students must register, and space is limited, determined by the number of Auburn University College of Education students and volunteers participating in the program. The hours range from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Follow us on Facebook at “Greater Peace gpcdc” for updates on registration dates.
Q: Do teachers and staff undergo background checks?
Yes, our child development center teachers and staff are required to undergo a DHR and ABI/FBI background check. Our after-school and summer program teachers/staff are required to have a DHR background check. Most of our staff currently work in or have retired from the school system.
Q: When can I begin registering my child(ren) for your programs?
STEM After School Program (June 1st), Summer Educational Enrichment Program (March 1st), Youth Leadership Academy (September 1st and January 3rd), OSR Pre-K (January), Child Development Center (ongoing), others (follow us on Facebook at Greater Peace gpcdc).
